WA Country Health Service | Mar 2023 - Present

Regional Clinical Performance Safety and Quality Analyst

N/A

Department of Health (WA Health) | Jan 2022 - Mar 2023

Postgraduate Student Researcher

• Conducted research project on healthcare safety and quality monitoring processes in Western Australia. • Identified and evaluated the performance of several different statistical models in distinguishing outlying hospitals, particularly for small regional hospitals. • Conducted statistical “Monte Carlo” simulation using several simulation parameters and a large number of iterations to determine the performance of each statistical model. • Manipulated and analysed a large dataset containing 945 000 observations and produced summary evaluative measures for binary classification (such as sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive values, and a Matthews Correlation Coefficient) using the statistical programming language R. • Applied statistical funnel plot models to real-world linked hospital morbidity and surgical datasets and produced both tabular results and publication-ready data visualisations. • Liaised with senior clinical, policy and evaluation personnel from the WA Department of Health, as well as my academic supervisor from UWA in regular intervals to refine the aims and direction of the project. • Developed an understanding of version control to effectively commit and push changes in statistical analysis to a GitHub repository shared with Data Analysts from the WA Department of Health.
