Blockchain Analytics LLC | Aug 2017 - Dec 2018

Co-Founder, Data Scientist

Co-founder and data scientist at Blockchain Analytics LLC, a software development and data consulting company focused on building custom algorithmic trading tools for cryptocurrency hedge funds.

University of Wisconsin-Madison | Aug 2013 - Jun 2018

Graduate Student

As a PhD student, I specialized in computational techniques to explore symbiosis and natural product chemistry in unculturable marine bacteria. Supported in part by the Kenneth Connors Distinguished Fellowship, and American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education (AFPE) Pre-Doctoral Fellowship, I worked at the interface of molecular biology, bioinformatics, and analytical chemistry. In addition to conducting my own research, I also served as a Teaching Assistant (TA) for two years in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and Pharmacogenomics, and a Project Assistant (PA) for two years supporting the Mass Spectrometry division of the School of Pharmacy's Analytical Instrumentation Center (AIC).

Pfizer | Jun 2013 - Aug 2013

Summer Research Fellow

I worked for Pfizer’s Worldwide Medicinal Chemistry Division studying the biosynthetic engineering of a Streptomyces strain to rationally design a molecule with improved medicinal chemistry properties. Specifically, a dehydratase (DH) domain of the biosynthetic polyketide synthase cluster was engineered to alter the enzymatic tailoring of a polyketide compound, thereby advancing its potential as a cancer therapeutic. At the conclusion of my internship, I gave both oral and poster presentations of my research findings at the annual Pfizer student research symposium.

Virginia Tech | May 2012 - Aug 2012

NSF REU Fellow

I focused my NSF-funded undergraduate thesis on microbial bioremediation through a research program at Virginia Tech (VT) entitled “Microbiology in the Post-Genome Era.” I worked with Dr. Amy Pruden in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department to study the effects of nanoparticle titanium dioxide (TiO2) on the bacterial community in nitrifying sequencing batch reactors. My work with Dr. Pruden was published in Water Research in 2014.

Pfizer | Jun 2011 - Aug 2011

Summer Research Fellow

In the summer of 2011, I worked with Frank Riley and Dr. Mark Zell in the Structure Elucidation Group of Pfizer’s Pharmaceutical Science division. I independently generated and analyzed chromatography data in support of the team goal of structural elucidation of unknown compounds. My independent research focused on Quality by Design method development for achiral supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC). Data generated from this project compiled information for many standards, solid support, mobile phases, and organic modifiers that would allow an unfamiliar user to better understand and implement SFC. My work at Pfizer was published in the American Chemical Society journal, Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Research.
