Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy | Jul 2019 - Jan 2022

Research Scientist

As a cancer vaccine scientist, my research at PICI focuses on understanding the innate and adaptive immune responses that mediate anti-cancer immunity to guide further vaccine development. In particular, my research has focused on 1) monocytes and dendritic cells in the setting of liver cancer and 2) the CD8 T-cell response to an autologous dendritic cell vaccine in melanoma patients. Our group uses a range of molecular and cytometric techniques, including high dimensional flow cytometry, CyTOF, and sc-RNA-seq. We apply a range of bioinformatics approaches, primarily using R, to analyze these data and uncover novel biology to provide insights into creating improved immunotherapies.

University of Washington | Sep 2011 - May 2018

Graduate Student

At the University of Washington my doctoral thesis focused primarily on evaluating a conserved elements (CE) vaccine to treat HIV using the SIV/ monkey model. Towards this end, I developed assays focused on T-cellular functionality and exhaustion to interrogate vaccine immunogenicity.

Siga Technologies | Jun 2010 - Dec 2010

Research Associate

At Siga my work was initially funded Howard Hughes Medical Institute Undergraduate Research Fund, where I researched antiviral small molecules in vitro using high throughput methodologies. Following the completion of my training grant, I continued working at Siga as a part time employee while finishing my undergraduate degree at Oregon State.
