Research Assistant

As a research assistant for Dr. Jennifer Vonk in the Department of Psychology, my primary responsibility was coding videos of studies conducted by Dr. Vonk and her graduate students. I started out coding child studies and was able to code three animal studies during summer 2014. For my senior thesis, I conducted three studies investigating the role of religious beliefs in false memory of events surrounding religion. My research resulted in poster presentations at the 2015 meeting of the Midwestern Psychological Association, the 2016 meeting of the Association for Psychological Science, and the 2016 meeting of the Cognitive Science Society. I also gave a talk about my research at the 2016 Meeting of the Minds held at U of M Flint.

Lifeguard

Scanned the pool for emergency situations and was prepared to both prevent and respond to emergency situations. During my four summers at Woodside, I contributed to changing the lifeguard culture to one that focused on preventing, rather than simply responding to an emergency, helping Woodside earn a reputation as one of the safest pools in the area.

PsychMatters Editor

As PsychMatters Editor, I was responsible for producing all issues of PsychMatters, a publication put out by the Oakland University chapter of Psi Chi in collaboration with the faculty in the Department of Psychology. I also had the opportunity to coordinate a research presentation by Oakland University President Dr. George W. Hynd.

As an intern in Segovia's tourism center, I worked the information desk, distributing maps and information about points of interest in the city. Most of the interactions took place in Spanish, however I assisted English-speaking tourists as well.
