IC BIC Data Scientist

Responsibilities: • Member of the Data Science Team for IC Category in Mexico-Caribbean • Design and development of machine learning/data science solutions in support for many areas inside the firm such as Customer Marketing, Brand Building, Sales and others • Creation of metrics and BI dashboards that provide formerly unknown insights to many stakeholders • Programming and implementation of automatized cloud-based workflows that allow the company to extract knowledge from previously disjointed datasets, as well as using it in collaborative planning with institutional customers, clustering of points of sale, Sell-In/Sell-Out forecasting, etc. Main Achievements: • I helped to implement a cloud-based battery of BI dashboards containing metrics and insights that assisted managers of the category while making decisions and adapting business plans during the 2020/21 COVID-19 pandemic • My team and I managed to great effect to provide many stakeholders with estimates of Sell-Out product rotation across geographies, distribution channels, clients and CVA’s, including the difficult but extremely important TT Channel

ADRISA - Agente de Seguros y Fianzas | Mar 2018 - Apr 2019

Statistical Studies and Actuarial Consulting Executive

Responsibilities: • Collaboration at every stage of the actuarial valuation of labour liabilities and benefit plans, which was the team’s main product. These valuations were carried out in compliance with either Mexican, International or American generally accepted accounting principles and regulations. • Support for the insurance brokerage division by generating automated statistical reports that summarized information on claim frequency and severity for many of the company’s key accounts so that their managers understand the current pricing of their policies. • Production and issuing of communication products (e.g. slides and workshops) aimed to the client’s employees and managers regarding subjects such as retirement plannings, finance, the importance of saving and others. These products were designed to provide added value to the teams main services. Main Achievements: • Using the R programming language I created a library containing all functionalities needed to automatize claim frequency and severity reports for many of the firm's institutional clients. Additionally, these reports were successfully migrated from MS PowerPoint to a cloud-based MS Power BI app • Using the Julia programming language I produced computer code that automated parts of the actuarial valuation of labour liabilities process that were formerly performed manually, e.g. verifying and cleaning of the clients payroll information and estimating zero-coupon yield curves from current prices of government bonds and other securities.

Secretaría de Agricultura, Ganadería, Desarrollo Rural, Pesca y Alimentación (SAGARPA) | May 2016 - Dec 2017

Responsibilities: • Continuous collaboration with then Mexico’s Agriculture Undersecretary’s adviser team, supporting them with analytical power when designing public policies for the development of priority/ strategic agroproductive chains • Gathering and analysis of datasets related with production and pricing of malting barley in both domestic and international markets. This information was crucial for the government’s mediation of a bitter dispute between local barley producers and two massive transnational beer brewing concerns. • Strategic planning for optimum resource allocation in a public agricultural loan program meant to encourage the cultivation of high-value perennial crops in Mexico. Main Achievements: • A historic rise was achieved in the price paid by the two largest beer brewing concerns to local malting barley producers. It was also the first price hike perceived by the producers in over a decade • Figures and graphs elaborated by our team appeared on SAGARPA’s National Agricultural Plan 2016-2030, published in late 2016
