Associate Researcher and Editorial Assistant

My academic and publishing experience in this double role contributes to and drives forward the research and administrative life of higher education in Germany through concentrated efforts at internationalization and professionalization. Here are some ways I make change: Associate Researcher • Co-develop (Steering Committee leadership) the international network for staff onboarding and professionalization (ISNet), in close coordination with the VP International. • Co-coordinate the research colloquium “Transnational Literature and Literature Transfer in the 20th and 21st Century” and co-edit its inaugural publication (forthcoming in 2023). • Teach courses on American history (Cultural Studies), Afrofuturist SFF as teaching praxis, Black American SF, and “poetry at the end of the world,” as well as an introduction to literature. • Publish well-reviewed articles important to American Studies on anti- intellectualism and alt-right propaganda, critical Black posthumanism, Black American SFF, “postapocalyptic” enslavement and its afterlives, and other related topics. • Present key learnings for peer review and critical feedback at conferences and invited symposia, as well as guest lectures. Editorial Assistant • Format journal submissions in the post-review stage • Copy-edit and -proof articles during prepublication • Propose data metrics for penetration and viewer (user) growth post OA transition for historically print publication; see also my previous experience in driving user base penetration, retention and growth (Customer Success)
