National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) | Aug 2023 - Present

Medical Officer of Health

I work to deliver adequate and quality minimum service package (Clinical and Administrative) at the primary health care level under the Community- based Health Research, Innovative-Training and Services Programme of the Expanded Midwives Service Scheme (CRISP-eMSS). The overall aim is to improve Maternal and Child health by ensuring adequate prenatal, child delivery and postnatal care at the PHC level. I work closely and collaborate with Nurses/Midwives and CHEWs, providing Supervision and Training, to achieve the overall aim.

Oyiji Odey Sickle Cell Clinic and Research Center | May 2022 - Present

Medical Officer

In this organization, the aim is to bring quality care to sickle cell individuals in a very low resource setting with the focus of improving their quality of life. We also offer genetic testing and counselling to intending couples, suspected Sickle cell disease patients and parents of confirmed cases. We also reach out to the community to raise awareness as touching the disease. Here, I'm also involved in carrying out research to better understand how certain factors within the environment influence the disease.

One year compulsory National Youth Service Corps program for fresh graduates. I was deployed to a secondary level of care in a rural environment. This role opened my eyes to the challenges and realities of healthcare delivery in rural Nigeria. I learned to work with the available resources to deliver care to the best of my ability.
