Digital Marketing Executive

At ATG and HS Security, I was the go-to person for all things digital marketing, juggling a wide array of tasks that covered both the strategic and the creative. Social media was my playground, as I managed channels across Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and YouTube, ensuring our brand voice was consistent and engaging. On the paid advertising front, I was hands-on with Google Ads, orchestrating PPC, Display, and Google Shopping campaigns that were fine-tuned for maximum impact. SEO was a core part of my role. I drove organic traffic by mastering link- building, keyword research, and ensuring everything from our website to our blog posts were search engine-friendly. But I didn't just work with words. I used Adobe After Effects to produce eye-catching videos with slick motion graphics, and Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator were my tools of choice for designing vibrant marketing graphics. Email marketing was another hat I wore, using MailChimp to connect with our network of international distributors. I even got into the nitty-gritty of HTML to customise our newsletters. Data wasn't just a buzzword for me; it guided my decisions. I used Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and Google Data Studio to craft insightful monthly reports that shaped our digital strategy. I didn't shy away from diving into long-form content, either, crafting in-depth guides and articles that enriched our website. Understanding our users was key, so I used tools like Hotjar, SurveyMonkey, and Loop11 to gather insights that informed future strategies. Lastly, I was proficient in using Google Tag Manager to inject custom code for advanced tracking, schema markup, and more, ensuring we captured every valuable interaction.

This is where I cut my teeth learning to write great content and work to tight deadlines. Whether it was writing the weekly music column or reporting on court proceedings, the sheer variety of topics I got to cover and people I got to interview helped me hone my writing style. One of the most important lessons I learned from my editor during this time and one I still use today is to make sure that my writing is easy to understand while staying as interesting as possible. While my shorthand might not be what it used to be, the skills I developed around content creation such as thorough research, quality writing and finding a good hook I still use day-to-day in digital marketing.
