As part of Continente's loyalty card management team, my goal as a Business Analyst is to analyze data and provide valuable insights to support business decisions. This is accomplished by extracting, preparing, and analyzing data (using SAS, Oracle SQL and PySpark/SparkSQL) in order to answer business questions and create dashboards (using Excel and Microstrategy) to track business performance over time.

During three months I was responsible for the analysis of forest fires' databases with the intent of understanding if, in a given territory, the available means for fire fighting are adequate for the number of fires occurring in a span of time and if not, what measures should be taken. To achieve this, the tools used were Excel and R.

Expansion and Renewals Trainee

Nine-month internship where I was responsible for developing a user-friendly solution to increase the efficiency of the team's processes, decreasing the number of user-induced errors and reducing the time spent. After observing the process and measuring several parameters related to the process, the solution was designed as a simple website where the data would be loaded and the then the process would continue automatically. This solution was developed in PHP and SQL, restraining the errors in the beginning of the process and reducing the time spent in approximately 90%.

Summer School Monitor

Summer School Monitor of an activity of the "Universidade Júnior" program, directed to high school students to present the activities developed in the University of Porto. The activity "Engenharia e Competição: Aprender com Diversão!" was conducted for one week in the month of July, both in 2015 and 2016. During this week the students were challenged to develop several prototypes for engineering competitions. The students are provided with simple materials and a set of guidelines, being evaluated based on the creativity of the solution presented.

MSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a major in Automation and a specialization in Industrial Management, which was chosen in order to complement the engineering background with knowledge on operations, business models and decision support systems. MSc thesis work was developed at INESC TEC and consisted in analyzing 15 years of data from forest fires in order to optimize an allocation system for firefighting vehicles. BEST is a European students’ association that connects students, universities and companies. Local BEST Groups are usually divided into teams, each with its own coordinator whose responsibilities include the team‘s HR management, knowledge transfer and task delegation. The marketing coordinator is also responsible for managing the group’s visual identity and social media profiles.

FEUP Buddy is a FEUP project with the goal of helping foreign students who are about to start a studying period at FEUP. FEUP Buddies are expected to help the foreign students by receiving them at the airport, integrating them in the city and the college and helping them find a place to stay.
