Senior Data Analyst

Team leader on financial default and pre-default work, responsible for visiting firms on-site to undertake/supervise customer data extraction, in-house data analysis, cleansing, transformation and loading into Oracle Siebel, using SQL Server, SSIS, Excel and DataFlux. Subject matter expert for financial recoveries. Working closely with insolvency practitioners and the Legal department to establish distributions of surplus recoveries to customers, translating business rules into SQL stored procedures to quantify amounts due. Tools used include SQL, Excel, SSIS, Access and VBA. A supporter of the Data Management team at all levels, providing guidance to junior and senior members, producing reports using SQL Server and Oracle BI, conducting peer reviews of code and deliverables, and contributing to strategic materials for managers. Lead developer on a number of initiatives including the integration of Experian BankWizard into the claims payment process, development of a claims management and quantification tool to support specialist claims workstream and development of a data quality checking process. Additional responsibilities during role: Interim Data Operations Manager (6 months): Manager of a team of data analysts during a period of significant business transformation. Ensured critical business-as-usual activities, such as providing support for claims payment calculations, daily data exchanges, management information reporting, and data on-boarding ran according to schedule despite considerable resourcing challenges. Analytics Specialist (6 months): Developed a data analytics workstream, providing insights to decision makers within the business. The analysis included identification of pay disparities between similar roles across the organisation. The analysis was well-received by the Head of Human Resources, and the outcomes were communicated to the Remuneration Committee.

Provided direct policy and administrative support to the Chief Executive, executive directors and to the Chairman of FSCS during a year-long secondment. Acted as a contact point of the CEO for external stakeholders, such as the FSA (now PRA/FCA), Bank of England, HMT and industry trade bodies.
