Tutor in Methodology & Statistics

For 2 years I held the role of Tutor in Methodology and Statistic, supporting Prof. Rettore and Prof. Benati in their teaching activities. I scheduled lectures in both theoretical and empirical fields, introducing and supporting students in the production of a short research paper using EVS and WVS survey data on R and Stata for data analysis. Data analysis lectures were focusing on 5 core modules: introduction data cleaning and managment (creating and reconding variables, keep and drop cases, missing values ecc.); mono/bivariate analysis (summary statistics, tabulation ecc); association index, test and modelling (chi square, Anova, regression models ecc.); graphic representation; how structure a short paper (, literature reviews ecc)

hanks to Professor Antonio Schizzerotto (IRVAPP Director) I had the opportunity to take an internship at The Institute for the Impact Evaluation of Public Policies (IRVAPP). I worked with Giovanni Abbiati (Research Fellow), Davide Azzolini (Research Fellow) and Prof. Enrico Rettore (Senior Research Fellow) at the early stage of the MENtoring Technology-Enhanced Pedagogy Project (MENTEP), which addresses the need in Europe for teachers able to innovate using ICT in their classrooms and for improved data on teachers’ digital competence (http://mentep.eun.org/). In addition to research activities, I have also been able to extend my knowledge on counterfactual analysis, especially in experimental setting (i.e. RCT, DID).

Tutor in Methodology and Statistics

During my bachelor degree in Sociology I worked as self-employed Tutor in Methodology and Statistics. During the first lecture previous student’s skills were evaluated, and an “ad hoc” academic calendar was drawn up to optimize the student/s learning process. I personally drew up schemes, conceptual maps, methodological and statistical exercise both to evaluate their progress and identify gaps to fill. This work experience allowed me to follow more than 100 students, refining my academic/organizational skills and above all to express my passion for teaching and sharing my knowledge. Looking at students grow not only intellectually, but also morally and humanly, and seeing them rejoice overcoming a goal that seemed insurmountable to them was the biggest "reward" they could ever give me.
