Engineering Manager, Vehicle Testing

Lead a team of 50+ responsible for the sign-off of Lucid’s complete vehicle test program including project management of vehicle testing across the org, executing vehicle-level validation tests, and running global vehicle test operations out of the Lucid headquarters in Newark. Our program management team is responsible for the entire Lucid vehicle fleet of test vehicles. Our vehicle operations teams executive tests for all Lucid internal teams and administer the training and licensing for all Lucid prototype drivers. Also, served as attribute leader for vehicle EMC, owning the vehicle attribute and overseeing all EMC related development and testing. * As founding member of the Vehicle Test department, over 3 years grew the team from 1 to 50+ with teams across 3 continents and 5 locations. * Validated and launched the Lucid Air, Motor Trend 2022 Car of the Year, including 5 optional variants across 3 global markets. * As a leader for the Lucid Speed team, helped achieve a record breaking 9.2 second quarter mile time and a 1min 31 second Laguna Seca lap time with the Lucid Air. * Established the Lucid Prototype Driver training program, training over 1000 Lucid employees every year. * Manage the entire vehicle validation plan and test fleet for Lucid * As EMC attribute lead, certified all versions of the Lucid Air for UN ECE and FCC electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) compliance.

Lead, Powertrain Vehicle Testing

Manage a global team of 6 engineers to deliver powertrain vehicle testing and validation on BYTON’s prototype vehicle fleet. Coordinate the execution of vehicle testing, set testing standards, and ensure results meet all high voltage, electric powertrain system requirements and features including functional performance, diagnostics, and functional safety. Execute the vehicle commissioning and fleet deployment of all SW and HW releases for BYTON’s powertrain systems. • Completed 54 days of vehicle testing in 2019, featuring hot weather vehicle testing, system validation and vehicle benchmarking tests • Instrumented vehicles and set department instrumentation standards to capture all vehicle CAN buses and current performance for all HV components during all validation activities • Commissioned the powertrain and signed off the demo vehicle used for the 2020 CES show, receiving high media praise for its driving performance and comfort

Engineer in charge of all vehicle-level test planning of BYTON’s powertrain and ADAS/AD teams. Coordinate and sign-off on the design validation plans (DVP), vehicle test specifications and scheduling, and the scheduling of testing facilities. In addition to test planning, powertrain fleet manager for 10 vehicles across the US, China, and Germany to support Powertrain testing and validation. • Managed prototype phase powertrain vehicle testing plan covering 12 months, 4 different powertrain variants and a fleet of 10 vehicles across two continents

Director of Engine Development

Manage the engine manufacturer competition for the Verizon IndyCar Series. Manage a yearly budget of $250k and direct a team of three support engineers to provide a compelling and competitive on-track product for fans and stakeholders and enforce INDYCAR regulations through data analysis and engine inspection. Product manager for INDYCAR’s engine and electronics systems, creating strategies that maximize company value and customer engagement, managing the system SW and HW specification, distribution, and maintenance. Negotiate contracts with various INDYCAR technical partners and vendors to achieve high quality, high value products for team stakeholders. Key Achievements: • Decreased team and engine manufacturer costs by $500k / year through contract renegotiations • Developed customer analysis tool that predicts customer engagement based on metrics from racing competition • Negotiated 5 year agreement to improve and replace current engine control unit for 2019 • Achieved outstanding level of customer service rating by our key stakeholders for the 2015 and 2016 seasons • Reduced data verification time of engine performance and compliance with the rules from 8 hours to 30 minutes using Python-based analysis tools

Manage a department of 10 people responsible for the build specification, test execution, and product validation for all of HPD’s major engine projects. Coordinate resources, set test schedules and review all test plans and reports delivered by the department. Key Achievements- • Improved data precision and accuracy for all our test reporting to within +/- 0.5% • Lead the testing and development of the Honda 2014 INDYCAR engine, which won the 2014 Indy 500

Group Leader III / Senior Engineer - Development

Supervised a 6-person group responsible for the performance-related planning, specification development, test execution, and product validation for all of HPD’s major engine projects. Managed test schedule, set engine specifications, reviewed test plans, and coordinated engine development as Development Project Leader for Honda’s 2014 INDYCAR engine. Key Achievements- • Lead research project for HPD’s first direct injection race engine, delivering a final product on time, under budget, and increased engine performance by 5% • In 2012, increased the power output of prototype INDYCAR engine by 11% over the span of 12 months, leading to an Indy 500 win in the engine’s first year of competition

Engineer II - Development

Lead Calibration Engineer for HPD’s championship-winning racing program in the American LeMans Series (ALMS). Aligned development to meet targets by creating and executing all engine control calibration test plans in the engine lab and at the racetrack. Key Achievements- • Integrated the use of combustion analysis with engine calibration methods, achieving optimum performance in 40% fewer engine miles and 65% shorter testing time resulting in a savings of $6K per test. • Developed engine starting control and calibration, resulting in 100% success in over 160 engine race starts for the entire 2009 racing season • Leveraged technical expertise to increase accuracy of combustion knock detection and control by 40%, resulting in zero knock related, on-track engine failures for HPD’s sports car program.

Associate Development Engineer

Performed durability testing and reporting for HPD’s first in-house engine design. Set test procedures, analyzed results, and reported testing data to the large project leaders. Identified and addressed durability problems and issues and tracked parts mileage life. Key Achievements - • Implemented standards for engine durability testing to enable all three HPD race cars to complete the 12 Hours of Sebring race and win their class.

Honda Performance Development | Oct 2004 - Apr 2006

Associate Race Engineer

Provided HPD with engineering support for their premier open wheel racing program, the Indy Racing League (IRL). Analyzed all engine data and monitored engine during operation, while regularly reporting to the lead engineer. Performed pit lane speed analysis for all of Honda’s IRL teams. Key Achievements - • By improving the calibration and control of the PLSL and utilizing rapid reports of critical information for Honda’s race team engineers prior to races, significantly reduced pit lane speed violations and decreased pit speed deviation from target by 75%
