• Used Python programming skills to create a suite of software to analyze Sloan Digital Sky Survey spectral data. • Interpreted data extracted from the spectra to create new understanding of galaxy formation and evolution. • Co-author of “Compact E+A Galaxies as a Progenitor of Massive Compact Quiescent Galaxies at 0.2<z< 0.8”, submitted to The Astrophysics Journal in Spring 2016 (https://arxiv.org/abs/1605.09734). • Presented results from the research in a seminar for the Lowell Center for Space Science and Technology in Spring 2016, invited to present a poster at SciPy 2016: Conference for Scientific Computing with Python. • Participated in the SAOLIP (Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory Latino Initiative Project) to encourage minority participation in STEM fields. Included participating in a panel discussion on “Minority Inclusion in STEM”, and an outreach project with Boston Museum of Science high school interns. • Awarded a Smithsonian Institute Short-Term Visitor Grant as a visiting Research Fellow for Fall 2015, and a Smithsonian Institute Peer Mentor Grant for Summer 2016.

• Learned useful skills in manufacturing with the help of power tools • Learned intermediate electrical engineering (soldering and design of components). • Gained experience operating the proton accelerator for experiments. • Created a User’s Manual for operation of the accelerator which would be used by future students.
