DIG Magazine | May 2013 - Aug 2013

Operations Management Intern

My primary duty at DIG Magazine involved publicizing and promoting upcoming events in and around the Greater Baton Rouge area. I did this by adding and editing various events (e.g., music concerts, sporting events, public arts, social gatherings, etc.) to the company website, as well as the physical publication. I discovered these by researching and contacting numerous businesses in the city and inquiring about their weekly schedule. I also wrote several blogs about my personal opinions, experiences, etc. on the DIG website. I also promoted the magazine and its stories on social media, as well as engaged and communicated with users on DIG's webpage. Additionally, I promoted DIG in partnership with Tin Roof Brewery atop L'auberge Casino for the unveiling of a new flavor beer. Lastly, I performed various operational tasks necessary for DIG's success. I mailed weekly issues to subscribers, answered phone calls, filed papers/ checks, and ordered office materials

Spring Board | Apr 2013 - Aug 2013

Intern

My main duty at Springboard was reviewing business plans of potential startups and entrepreneurs. After analyzing their specific industry, their projected figures, and past activity, I recommended to my employer whether or not to invest in their business. Depending on their potential, we would meet with the entrepreneurs to discuss possible capital funding, further business projections, and make suggestions on how to improve or better their business model. I also promoted various Springboard events such as the weekly Thirst Thursday, a social mixer encouraging talks and discussions among local entrepreneurs, as well as our 4th of July rooftop party. Additionally, I constantly shared and posted engaging and interesting startup stories, companies, and ideas to Springboard's social media sites
