Senior Consultant in Strategy and Transactions Services

After interning for four summer periods, I immediately joined the Strategy and Transactions Advisory team at EY on completion of my Master’s in Accountancy at the University of Malta. I worked for a year on numerous projects gaining invaluable experiences. This inspired me to further my studies with a Msc in Finance in Antwerp Management School. With my newly acquired skills in financial management, my strong background in accountancy, and my fresh, global perspective, I returned to EY as a Senior consultant, currently in the Valuation, Modelling and Economics Team. Throughout my career, I have consulted a variety of local and international clients in the Banking, Insurance, Retail and Pharmaceutical industries. My key projects and learning experiences included: Valuation Reviews: - Assessed property values for accuracy and market compliance. - Evaluated subsidiary valuations based on revenue, market position, and growth potential. - Conducted impairment reviews to identify asset value reductions. Financial Modeling for Government Concessions: - Developed financial models for diverse industries to support government concession applications, including ground rent payments. - Applied scenario analysis for best and worst-case projections. - Supported ministries in privatization decisions and ground rent assessments. Bank Analysis: - Analyzed financial statements, capital adequacy, liquidity ratios, and profitability to assess banks' financial health for investment safety. Company Valuations for Mergers/Acquisitions: - Performed sum-of-the-parts valuation for a hospital using DCF and Terminal Value methods. - Valued a subsidiary of an international group in Malta with various models, including transaction multiples and DCF. Financial Due Diligence: - Verified financial accuracy and integrity. - Conducted market research and competitive analysis. - Participated in expert sessions to enhance due diligence reliability.

Within the year, I worked on several key projects: EU Manual on the Resolution of Banks: - Mapped EU banking legislation to local regulations to identify gaps. - Assisted in drafting the manual for Malta's Regulatory Resolution Unit. - Coordinated communication between the client and the company preparing the manual simulation. AML (Anti-Money Laundering): - Drafted AML country-specific addendums. - Revised current AML addendums with local MLROs. - Conducted due diligence. Physical Secondment with a Regulatory Authority: - Provided audit support. - Facilitated EU project selection. After a year of working, I took a sabbatical to complete an MSc in Finance.

Selected as one of the 40 participants in Belgium for the Capitant Investment Banking track, involving many real life case studies related to the Investment Banking World. Workshops given by well known companies such as Roland Berger, Deliotte, Degroof Petercam and so on.
