Currently responsible for architectural brands for Cooper Lighting including Ametrix, Lumiere, Corelite, Neoray, RSA, Shaper, and iO Lighting brands, as well as support for core brands regarding lighting safety and compliance. Safety standards include: Standard for Luminaires (UL 1598), LED Equipment for Use in Lighting Products (UL 8750), Portable Electric Luminaires (UL 153), Low-Voltage Lighting Systems (UL 2108), Low-Voltage Landscape Lighting Systems (UL 1838), Track Lighting (UL 1574) and Class 2 Power Units (UL 1310). Review product compliance with NFPA 70, National Electric Code (NEC 2014) requirements. Determine applicable safety compliance testing, compile certification project submittals, and safety approvals. Perform safety inspections on the product lines and verify production line testing. Additionally, Manufacturing Technical Representative for UL 48 Electric Sign Lights for Denver manufacturing facility. Responsibilities include overseeing production line testing, UL 48 compliance to mechanical and electrical construction, and application of appropriate UL marking. Long-term projects include developing and maintaining applicable Factory- Type and Production Line testing methodology for manufacturing product lines per compliance agency requirements; identifying component traceability gaps and working internally and externally with vendors for traceability compliance; analyzing and reducing Follow-Up Service (FUS) costs for all manufacturing locations through file consolidation and omissions; and developing on-site testing facility to perform product validation testing prior to product approval through respective compliance agencies.

Lighting Safety & Compliance engineer for Cooper Lighting's outdoor, sustaining, and retail groups. Performed mechanical and electrical reviews of lighting products to determine compliance to appropriate safety standards and the National Electrical Code (NEC 2011). Job functions included determining appropriate testing scope per product and develop appropriate safety listing submittals. Developed process improvement methodology for internal sustaining group to decrease lead-times between customer product deviation request and product implementation.

Research Assistant

Project involved manufacturing new stage for multistage microscope. Designed and machined variable slide holder with climate and temperature controls functionality. Research focused on fluid mechanics with strong focus on lymphatic system. Projects included cancer treatment transport using lymphatic system and Filariasis (disorder that occurs from a parasitic-caused infection causing lymphatic insufficiency, and in some cases elephantiasis)
