Kluczowe cytaty

The barrier to entry for data visualization has never been lower. Free tools like Tableau Public give users access not only to learn how to build dashboards, but also to communities that can encourage and challenge them. With this type of tool, it’s important to keep trying, keep building, and keep learning. An artist is not successful from day one. An author is not successful from day one. A coder is not successful from day one. They have tried, they've played, they've succeeded, and they've failed. And every single step they're taking is teaching them a little bit more. It’s the same for data visualization.

What we've learned is that analysts like to use Tableau or people who are analytically inclined like to use Tableau, so they put in the effort to learn the platform. However, not everybody has that inclination to spend the time learning Tableau’s ins and outs. So how do we bring the power of tools like Tableau to people who, for whatever reason, can't invest the time into learning them? Our goal is to bring the power of analytics to people who aren't analysts, and bringing the data to the users, rather than asking them to go to a destination to see data.

Najważniejsze wnioski

  1. The barrier to entry for data visualization has benever been lower. Free tools give users access not only to learn how to build dashboards, but also to communities that can encourage and challenge them.

  2. While many data professionals think that spending time in meetings interacting with data in a meaningful way in order to solve business problems is somehow problematic, it’s actually a sign of data maturity.

  3. The power of data visualization is that it takes complex versions of data sets and and transforms them into information that can be understood quickly and easily.
