Course Description

Route and Address Traffic in Google Cloud

Getting traffic to the right place, securely and predictably, is at the heart of every cloud network. This second course in the Networking in Google Cloud series builds on the Fundamentals course and focuses on the routing and addressing concepts behind Google Cloud’s networking capabilities.

Work With IP Addresses, Routes, Cloud DNS, and NAT

You’ll begin with the key building blocks: IP addressing, subnets, route tables, and firewall rules, plus how to bring your own IP addresses (BYOIP) to Google Cloud. You’ll then configure and manage Cloud DNS, including private and managed zones, and use NAT rules to give resources secure outbound access without exposing them to the internet.

Connect Privately to Google and Other Services

The second half of the course covers private connectivity. You’ll compare the options for reaching Google APIs and other services using internal IP addresses and learn when each one fits. By the end, you’ll be able to control traffic flow with routes, resolve domain names reliably, and choose the right private connection option for your workloads.

Private Connection Options

In this module, we’ll discuss some general methods of accessing Google and other services privately by using internal IP addresses. Then, we will cover each of the methods: Private Google Access, Private Service Connect, private services access and Cloud NAT. After that, you will try what you learned in a Cloud NAT lab exercise.
