Joel is the Harold E. Smalley Professor in the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Tech, and Director of the interdisciplinary Master of Science in Analytics degree.

He is a sports analytics researcher, and is noted for his predictive modeling of the NCAA basketball tournament. Joel's teaching and curriculum development has won recognition from the Institute of International Education and National Academy of Engineering.

Joe is a Vice President at WGU, and leads the Data Analytics, Computer Science, & Software Engineering departments in the College of IT.

He is a digital transformation expert and has a background in statistical modeling, marketing, and decision intelligence. Joe was previously Senior Director of Digital Solutions at Dell Technologies and led Data Science teams across Dell’s Sales, Finance, and Supply Chain organizations.
