DataCamp and Simplilearn both promise to get you job-ready in data and AI, but they sell very different things.
DataCamp is a subscription: one price, 800+ interactive courses across data, AI, cloud, and software development; learn whenever you like.
Simplilearn sells programs: live, cohort-based courses that run for months, many with a university's name on the certificate, priced one at a time.

DataCamp Cost vs. Simplilearn Cost
It is a difference in model, not just in price.
DataCamp Premium gives you access to 800+ courses, projects, certificates, and certifications for one subscription. It is $28 a month billed annually. The first chapter of courses is free, so you can try before paying anything.
Simplilearn prices each program separately. Its Professional Certificate in Data Analytics and Generative AI, run with UC Santa Barbara Professional and Continuing Education, lists a total program fee of $3,899, with installments from $350 a month. That's one example. Some program pages, like its six-month AI Powered Data Analyst Course, asks you to talk to an advisor to learn more about costs.
Verdict: A full year of DataCamp at list price, $336, costs less than a tenth of one Simplilearn university program. Pay Simplilearn's fee only if live teaching and a university's name are worth the difference to you.
DataCamp Curriculum vs. Simplilearn
DataCamp's library is built around data and AI, and reaches well beyond them. Alongside data analysis, data engineering, machine learning and AI, it has courses and tracks in cloud computing on AWS, Azure and Google Cloud, DevOps and Docker, and software development in Python and Java, plus everyday business tools such as Excel, Power BI and Tableau.
Simplilearn covers a different spread. Alongside data science and analytics, it runs programs in cloud computing, cybersecurity, DevOps, project management, and quality management. Its data programs bundle many tools into one curriculum: the UC Santa Barbara certificate covers Power BI, Google Analytics 4, n8n and LangChain, among more than 20 tools.
Verdict: For data, AI, cloud or software skills, DataCamp lets you go deep in one tool at a time and pick your own order. If you also need cybersecurity or project management training, Simplilearn is very helpful with those.
DataCamp vs. Simplilearn Learning Styles
DataCamp courses are built around short videos and in-browser coding exercises, so you write real code from the first lesson with nothing to install. You can learn on the mobile app too, and there is no class to attend.
Simplilearn's paid programs are taught live. The data programs we looked at are listed as "Live, Online, Interactive," with sessions led by industry practitioners and a cohort start date, for example, November 21, 2026 for the AI Powered Data Analyst Course. Its free SkillUp courses are self-paced video, with the ones we saw running 1 to 4 hours.
Verdict: If you need a teacher and a timetable to stay motivated, Simplilearn is great. If your week is unpredictable, or you learn best by doing rather than watching, DataCamp fits better.
DataCamp Time Commitment vs. Simplilearn
On DataCamp, the time is yours to set. A single course takes a few hours, for example, 4 hours for Introduction to Python, and a career track is a longer sequence you finish at your own pace.
Simplilearn's programs come with a calendar. The UC Santa Barbara data analytics certificate that I mentioned earlier runs for 30 weeks at 8 to 10 hours a week, and the AI Powered Data Analyst Course runs for 6 months.
Verdict: A fixed schedule helps many people finish, but it is hard to fit around shift work or a busy season. DataCamp is the safer choice if your availability changes week to week.
DataCamp Certifications vs. Simplilearn
Every DataCamp course and track comes with a certificate, and Premium includes DataCamp's certifications, such as Data Analyst, Data Scientist, Data Engineer, AI Engineer, and AI Fundamentals. These are exam-based credentials built around job tasks, and our guide to the best data analyst certifications compares them with other options.
Simplilearn's selling point is co-branding. Its paid programs carry a certificate from a partner such as UC Santa Barbara Professional and Continuing Education or IIT Madras's Pravartak Foundation, sometimes with partner content from Microsoft. SkillUp certificates are free completion certificates.
Verdict: A university name can help on a résumé, especially where that university is well known. Employers hiring for data roles usually care more about what you can show, which is where projects and exam-based certifications earn their keep.
DataCamp for Business vs. Simplilearn for Business
Both sell to companies. DataCamp for Business offers Teams, Small Business, and Enterprise plans with progress tracking, custom tracks from the Small Business plan, and single sign-on and learning management system integrations at the higher tiers.
Simplilearn's business offering, SkillUp+, combines expert-led async courses with live sessions and projects in one subscription. Simplilearn says it runs 700 live sessions a month on the platform.
Verdict: Choose DataCamp for Business for data, AI, cloud, and software skills with reporting across many people. Choose Simplilearn SkillUp+ if live sessions matter most, or if you also need training in areas such as cybersecurity or project management.
DataCamp vs Simplilearn: Which to Choose?
- You want to learn by doing, on your own schedule
- DataCamp. One subscription covers the whole library, and nothing has a start date.
- You need a teacher and a timetable to stay on track
- Simplilearn. Its live cohorts give you a class to show up for.
Final Thoughts
DataCamp and Simplilearn solve different problems. DataCamp is the better fit if you want to learn data, AI, and cloud skills by doing, on your own schedule, for one subscription price.
Simplilearn is the better fit if you need live classes, a cohort or a university name on the certificate, and can budget for a program fee. Not sure? Try DataCamp's free first chapters and a SkillUp course, and see which format you actually finish.
