Casting a Wider Net

As DataCamp Donates marked its third anniversary in Q3 2023, we surpassed a remarkable milestone of 90,000 scholarships donated to underprivileged individuals through our dedicated NGO partners. While we have witnessed larger quarters regarding the sheer number of scholarships provided, Q3 2023 held a unique significance. For the first time in our program's history, DataCamp Donates scholarships were utilized by learners across a staggering 150 countries worldwide.

But that's not all. In September, we achieved something even more eye-watering: we counted over 1,000,000 scholarship recipients through our DataCamp Classrooms and Donates programs since 2016! That's over a million unique DataCamp users that have received free at least six months of free Premium  DataCamp access (oftentimes a full year or longer) through a DataCamp Classrooms teacher or a DataCamp Donates.

One of the ongoing goals of the program, besides ultimately helping underresourced people improve their earning power, is to ensure our scholarships are being delivered to a community as diverse and far-reaching as the globe itself. That’s because we believe that talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not, so we will continue to strive to work with partners in every territory where international laws allow us to provide aid. More on that later in our Quantitative Analysis.

DataCamp Donates Partners carefully reviewed individual applications and granted DataCamp scholarships to eligible applicants. These applicants may be unemployed individuals, refugees, victims of war or natural disasters, persons with disabilities, members of historically disadvantaged communities, students aged 16-26, and nonprofit research scientists working with health, environmental, and/or humanitarian aid data.

These esteemed DataCamp Donates Scholars received six to twelve months of unrestricted access to DataCamp's comprehensive curriculum, mobile app, certification, workspace, and a plethora of other valuable resources. If you work or volunteer for an NGO that could help us provide these opportunities to underserved populations, we encourage you to apply today to the Q1 2024 DataCamp Donates cohort!

Quantitative Analysis: Unveiling the Numbers

1 Donates 2023 Q3 Digest.png

Q3 2023 witnessed DataCamp Donates contributing over 5,500 scholarships to 49 partner organizations, making it the third-largest quarter in our program's history. We accepted applications from 30 new and returning partners. Thus far, over 80% of these scholarships have been actively utilized by learners, and we remain committed to collaborating with our partners to ensure that all scholarships reach the hands of deserving underprivileged learners.

Furthermore, twelve of these 49 partner organizations were recognized for their outstanding contributions and were rewarded with additional scholarships for disadvantaged learners. These organizations demonstrated exemplary adoption and engagement rates within their first six months of partnership.

With immense pride, we acknowledge that Q3 2023 welcomed 16 returning partner organizations, each having demonstrated unwavering commitment to DataCamp Donates. These organizations have qualified for another year of scholarships, allowing us to continue making a meaningful impact together.

Now in Q4 2023, we are extending our efforts to empower learners in the Western Hemisphere who are struggling with poverty, unemployment, and other challenges that impede their access to education and career opportunities.

Heartwarming Success Stories

I used Datacamp to learn Excel, SQL and Tableau. I really liked the step-by-step explanations that helped me to understand the concepts. I use the concepts that I learned in my current job to analyze data and build reports. I love DataCamp!

I was unemployed for quite some time, and I used my DataCamp scholarship to strengthen my data analytics skillset. This gave me much-needed confidence to excel in interviews something that was not as easy before. I am now competitive in the job market.

Many thanks to STEM Educational Institute and their sponsor, the New York Yankees, for inviting us to their special fundraising event. Over 15 DataCampers attended the game against the Brewers in the Bronx, and we were all blown away by the achievements of their young scholars, many of whom have been accepted into Ivy League colleges, and loved meeting all the talented, compassionate individuals who make the program such a success for at-risk youths.

Webinar Rewind

We hosted some eye-opening live webinars last quarter. DataCamp Donates Scholars got a ton of value out of our interactive explainers of DataCamp Portfolios and Worskapce, leading to higher adoption of these new products. We also welcomed guests from the LIDE New Dimensions program to talk about how they are transforming the lives of underprivileged women in Ecuador with data literacy education. Bring some tissues if you watch that webinar because there are some truly inspiring stories of success after struggle in that one!
