The 10 Best Custom GPTs on the GPT Store

Explore the best Custom GPTs we’ve seen so far on the GPT store, from data science tools to SEO assistants and image generation.
Updated Jan 2024  · 10 min read

GPTs are continuing to be a hot topic, and it’s getting even better with Custom GPTs where you can now create your own custom versions of ChatGPT that include a combination of instructions, knowledge and skills - to fit unique tasks.

What Are Custom GPTs?

OpenAI recently launched its GPT Store, in which you can create custom GPTs that are trained on your specific instructions and knowledge base, so you can have a GPT that supports you and your team for exactly what you want and need. Custom GPTs offer users the ability to create a tailored solution to their daily tasks and objectives, for example, generation learning objectives.

Building a custom GPT does not require any code - all you need is to be able to create one with enough instructions and knowledge, and you’re good to go. Once you have created your Custom GPT, you can upload it onto the GPT Store, allowing anyone from around the world to have access and make use of it.

Standard ChatGPT vs Custom GPTs

Custom GPTs offer users a more specific GPT that can accommodate their objectives compared to the standard base ChatGPT. The GPT store offers hundreds of GPTs that are customized for a single purpose, unlike the standard ChatGPT, which aims to be a jack of all trades.

For example, on the GPT store, there are GPTs available for creative writing, explanations of board or card games, and more.

With the use of Custom GPTs, users will spend less time prompting GPTs to produce their specific outcomes through prompt engineering and be able to access Custom GPTs that are fit for specific purposes.

Creating Custom GPTs

If you would like an in-depth guide, please refer to our separate article on How to Make Custom ChatGPT Models: 5 Easy Steps to Personalized GPTs. Below, we've summarized the main steps.

To start your Custom GPT journey, you will need access to ChatGPT Plus.

  1. When you log in, you will see an ‘Explore’ button on the left-hand side at the top.
  2. Click on ‘Explore’ and it will direct you to the GPT Store.
  3. At the top of the page, it will say ‘Create a GPT’, click on this.

On the left side, it will have a ‘Create’ tab where you can use plain language to customize your own GPT through prompting. You also have a ‘Configure tab’ where you can provide more information about the Custom GPT, such as the name, description, and what exactly the GPT does and what it should not do.

When you make changes in the ‘Create’ and Configure’ tab, you will see these live updates In the preview window on the right-hand side and message your GPT to assess its abilities.

Prompts

You want to start by prompting your custom GPT in the ‘Create’ tab, for example, ‘I want to create a custom GPT that has expert AI and machine learning knowledge.’ It will ask you a series of questions to cater your custom GPT to exactly how you would like it.

As you can see in the image below, the prompts have been updated on the live preview on the left. You will also see that on the left-hand side, there are conversation starters such as ‘Let's chat about your ML project!’.

If you move over to your ‘Configure’ tab, you will see that some of the information has been automatically added in. You can name your Custom GPT and also add and remove any conversation starters.

When looking into building a custom GPT, you want to ensure that you can reap all the benefits, and there are a few ways that can ensure that you do so.

Integrating Custom GPTs into Daily Workflows

If you’re an avid user of GPTs, you are naturally improving your daily workflow by completing day-to-day tasks. When you have a specific task at hand that needs to have a curated focus, for example, marketing SEO content, a custom GPT will significantly enhance the productivity and efficiency of your workflow.

For example, data analysts can use custom GPTs such as Data Analytica to summarize data findings, generate reports, and create data visualizations. Teaching professionals can benefit from custom GPTs such as Smart ESL Teaching Assistant to create learning material that adapts to various learning levels.

There is a wide range of use cases where custom GPTs have been and continue to be highly beneficial to people from different backgrounds, careers, and age groups.

Training Custom GPTs

The use of custom GPTs is to ensure it is equipped with specialized knowledge for a specific use case. Training your custom GPT model with your own data with relevant text, images, and other work examples is a good practice to fine-tune your model for your specific use case.

If you want your custom GPT to be personal to you or your business, you will need to ensure that it is being fed with the right data. See it as having regular meals to fuel you for your busy day, custom GPTs need the same fuel in terms of accurate and specific data.

Integrating with existing tools

Integrating existing tools with current software tools can improve your workflow productivity. For example, API integrations to combine your content management system with your data analysis custom GPT can provide smooth access to quick and efficient analysis of custom relationships and areas of focus.

Platforms such as Zapier can draft automated responses for a new customer query in the CRM using the custom GPT model, which not only enhances productivity but also ensures that the workflow process is streamlined as smoothly as possible, benefiting employees' workload.
