The team registration deadline for the National Data4Good Case Competition, hosted by the Purdue University Daniels School of Business, is September 20th, 2024. This year’s competition is jam-packed with value, and DataCamp is a proud co-sponsor of this event, which will bring even more value to undergraduate and master’s students across the United States who participate.

This competition is unlike many others as it’s actually more than a case – even though the name might suggest otherwise. This points-based competition offers registered participants a chance to develop their skills by completing short weekly deliverables that earn them points to be regional champions (a $2,000 per team award), while working on a case provided by the Trajedgy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS).

Teams of 3-4 participants must register by the September 20th deadline to receive:

  • Large Language Model (LLM) and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) training from Prediction Guard CEO, Daniel Whitenack.
  • AI-900 Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals training from Cloud Ready Skills. Did you know in last year’s competitors passed the AZ-900 with a 95% pass rate! A whopping 693 students passed.
  • INFORMS Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) JTA training by Beverly Wright, CAP which provides a best practices process framework for creating and delivering analytics solutions. CIO.com listed the INFORMS CAP as one of the top nine data analytics certifications in 2024.
  • AI Ethics training with Prime AI CEO Aaron Burciaga, CAP will shine a light on the problems companies are faced with ensuring AI is being implemented ethically in industry.

How to participate:

  1. Form a team of 3-4 students (all must be undergraduate or master’s students in the US).
  2. Register as a team at https://business.purdue.edu/events/data4good/
  3. Make sure to keep track of all the key deadlines!

Do not just take our word for it. 90% of the students that participated last year said they recommend it to students this year. 89% believed this competition was worth their time and money, and 100% considered themselves to be more knowledge of Microsoft Azure.

While AZ-900 training is not provided directly as part of the competition points structure this year, all competitors will receive a premium 6-month subscription to DataCamp which offers an Azure AI-900 prep course with a 50% off certification exam voucher for those who successfully complete the DataCamp course. That is just one of 500 courses available.

According to Professor Matthew Lanham, organizer of the Data4Good competition, “DataCamp has been instrumental at helping students in Purdue’s award-winning M.S. in Business Analytics & Information Management (BAIM) program improve their coding skills. Thereis no other platform out there today that helps people skill up on their programming skills and I’m so thankful they are contributing to this competition.”
