The 2023-2024 academic year marked yet another milestone for DataCamp Classrooms, our corporate social responsibility program designed to provide teachers and students worldwide with FREE DataCamp premium licenses. Over the past year, DataCamp Classrooms has been a vital resource for thousands of educational institutions globally, and we are committed to expanding its reach.

As we prepare to broaden our impact, let's celebrate some of the most impressive achievements that defined our journey this year.

Success Metrics: Straight A’s

Success Metrics 1.jpgThroughout the 2023-2024 academic year, educators created 8,362 DataCamp Classrooms, a significant 21% increase compared to the previous year. Considering all DataCamp Classrooms, we reached an impressive number of 178,805 unique users.

Our back-to-school season kicked off with incredible momentum, peaking in October 2023 when we saw over 47,169 unique active users. As the academic year progressed, February 2024 was another standout month, with 43,175 active users as students and educators geared up for a successful Spring semester.

We had active DataCamp Classrooms in around 3,900 schools,  of which at least 1,000 became part of the program for the first time.

While most of our users are based in North America and Europe, our presence expands across all continents. This year, we saw significant growth in user engagement, with a 41% increase in Asia, a 40% rise in Africa, a 37% uptick in Oceania, and a 23% increase in Central and South America. With our ongoing efforts to localize content and offer translations in Spanish, Portuguese, and more languages, we anticipate continued global expansion.

Though R and Python remain the leading languages, we hope teachers and students enjoy our newer AI, Machine Learning, and LLMs technologies courses and certification during the next academic year. We just launched courses covering prompt engineering, MLOP concepts, and the EU AI Act.

Popular Reasons Why Educators Choose DataCamp Classrooms

After analyzing feedback from 160 educators worldwide, several vital reasons stand out as to why DataCamp Classrooms is their go-to platform:

  • Extensive content library: Educators appreciate the platform's ability to cater to different learning levels, from beginners to advanced students. Teachers often cite the ability to teach diverse technologies and concepts, such as Python, SQL, R, Tableau, AI, and Machine Learning, all within a single platform, making it a one-stop resource for data education.
  • Hands-on Experience: Teachers emphasize how DataCamp's interactive exercises and projects help students gain practical skills directly applicable to real-world scenarios, enhancing their understanding and retention of the material. DataLab, our cloud-based interactive notebook, is often highlighted as a differentiator that allows students to collaborate on group projects.
  • Industry-recognized Certifications: DataCamp's certifications stand out for students who want to boost their resumes and prove their skills in the job market.
  • Gamified Experience: Teachers observe that students are more motivated and engaged using DataCamp, thanks to its interactive lessons and immediate feedback mechanisms. The platform's gamified elements, such as earning points and badges, provide a more enjoyable learning experience.
  • Powerful Teaching Tools: The ability to create assignment deadlines, check automated scores, and track students' progress through the analytics dashboard is regarded as a vital tool not found anywhere else in the market for $0.
