Jeffrey Ryan

 

Jeff has spent over 20 years in quantitative finance, starting as an options market maker at the CBOE before developing quantitative trading software. In the mid-2000s, he released R programming packages that became industry-standard tools. After presenting at a quant conference in Switzerland, Jeff co-founded R/Finance in Chicago in 2009, fostering a thriving community. He consulted for hedge funds and startups focused on data and time series management, with his work cited in over 100 publications. Joining Citadel’s Quantitative Strategies desk in 2013, he helped develop key research tools before leaving in 2019. In 2020, he resumed building tools for the future of quantitative trading.



His talk will dive into the significant challenges companies face when implementing data-driven strategies, focusing on finding practical solutions. It will explore how identifying complex issues is only the first step—education and data literacy play a critical role.
