1

Working with Data Files

  • Getting Answers from Data

You will ask Claude for totals, breakdowns by segment or time period, and "what's interesting here," and build the habit of describing a target output before you ask.

  • Cleaning Up Messy Data

You will direct Claude to standardize formats, flag duplicates and errors, and turn an unstructured file into a proper spreadsheet — always into a new file that leaves the original untouched.

  • Building Formulas Without the Syntax

You will describe calculations in plain English — margins, running totals, conditional flags, tiered logic — and ask Claude to show its work so you can check the logic.

  • Combining Sheets Into One

You will direct Claude to stack same-structure sheets into a master file, and re-run the same rollup once new data comes in.

2

Advanced Analytics Workflows

  • Pulling Data from a Connected Database

Using an existing connection, you will direct Claude to list the tables in a database, select the relevant ones, and combine them into a report that answers a business question.

  • Turning Data into Something Visual

You will turn a table into a chart, apply conditional color coding, and put together a simple dashboard.

  • Putting It All Together

You will take one messy export and run the whole chain — inspect and clean, build a calculated column, join a second table on a shared key, build a bar-chart dashboard, and verify it — into a result you can trust.
