🎨 Win a Hand-Signed Picasso: Create an AI Explainer Video

Anyone can generate a video in seconds now, and that's exactly the problem: when production is easy, most outputs look the same. So we're testing for the one thing AI can't do for you: taste. Make a short AI-generated video that teaches something about AI or data, then submit it by publishing a DataCamp DataLab workbook, before October 9, 2026. No code or technical skills are needed. Just fill out the form, upload your video, and post it on LinkedIn or Instagram using the directions below. The winning entry gets a hand-signed, limited-edition Picasso.

Your challenge

Submit a short AI-generated video explaining a concept around data or AI, before the deadline of October 9, 2026 at 09:00 UTC.

  • The video should be between 10 and 60 seconds long, not including the intro clip.
  • Your video must begin with DataCamp's intro clip—download the MP4 file from the button at the top of this page
  • Upload your finished video to your DataLab competition workbook.
  • Post the video on social media (LinkedIn or Instagram), tagging @DataCamp and including #AIForCreativity and #WinAPicasso in the caption. Make sure your post is public.
  • The topic can be technical ("What does a SQL GROUP BY statement do?", "How does Proximal Policy Optimization work for post-training LLMs?"), conceptual ("How will AI impact growth marketing?", "What does responsible AI involve?") or career-related ("What is the future of the data scientist role?", "What is a forward-deployed engineer?").
  • You must use AI video generation technology to create the video. It's OK to use non-AI tools to edit the video, and it's OK to include non-generative audio or subtitles in the video.
  • Your video must be in MP4 format, using a modern codec (e.g., H.265, AV1, or VP9), with a resolution of 720 pixels on the shorter side, in 16:9, 9:16, 1:1, or 4:5 aspect ratio, and no larger than 50 MB.
  • The submission also includes a short questionnaire on the educational, creative, and technical decisions behind your video. This is not graded.

Judging criteria

How judging works

  • This competition uses a mix of human and programmatic grading.
  • Software is used to judge technical requirements such as whether the video is an appropriate length.
  • AI is used to judge that the video theme is within scope, and that technical explanations are accurate. LLM decisions are verified by a human expert.
  • Human experts check for clarity of explanation, creativity and originality, and production values of the generated video, scored against a 20-point rubric.

Clarity of Explanation (6 points)

  • Does a viewer with no prior context actually understand the concept after watching?
  • 6 means the content is crystal clear, has a logical structure, is appropriate for the target audience, and the ideas stick with you. 0 means the viewer comes away more confused than before.

Video Quality & Production (6 points)

  • How well-executed is the AI-generated video itself?
  • 6 means the content is visually polished, has coherent motion and continuity, does not contain distracting AI artifacts, and the pacing suits the runtime. 0 means low effort or barely watchable.

Creativity & Originality (6 points)

  • Is the concept communicated in a memorable, inventive way, rather than a generic talking-head or stock-style explainer?
  • 6 means there is a distinctive visual style, metaphor, or narrative device that makes the concept stick. 0 means there is no discernible creative angle.

Effective Use of AI Generation (2 points)

  • Does the entry use the medium well, rather than bolting AI video onto something that could have been a slideshow?
  • 2 means AI generation is core to the storytelling — used in a way live footage couldn't easily replicate, or genuinely elevating the explanation. 0 means AI generation feels tacked-on or minimal.
