Your challenge

  • 🎓 Step 1 - Get Certified! See https://app.datacamp.com/certification/get-started/ai-engineer-for-data-scientists-associate/overview for more info. You need to complete this certification before the competition closes.
  • 📝 Step 2 - One of your colleagues is new to AI engineering and wants to understand why splitting a dataset is important for machine learning. In less than 300 words, explain:
  • Why it’s important to split data into training, validation, and testing sets.
  • When in the machine learning workflow you should perform the split.
  • What could happen if you don't split your data properly, with an example from your own experience (or a hypothetical one).
  • Keep to the word count! Submissions over 300 words will not be reviewed.

How to get started

Judging criteria

Suitability for the Audience (50%)

  • The response is tailored to a non-technical audience

Accuracy (30%)

  • The response is an accurate description of averages and why you would use them

Presentation (10%)

  • The response is easy to read, free from spelling and grammar mistakes

Public upvotes (10%)

  • Upvoting - most upvoted entries get the most points.

Rules

  • Entries to the competition take the form of a workbook publication. Make sure the competition publication is publicly visible in order to be entered into the competition.
  • The competition is open to premium DataCamp subscribers, DC Donates, and Classrooms users.
  • Only one entry per user. You may update your entry up to the deadline.
  • Make sure your competition workbook is published by the competition deadline in order for it to be valid.
  • You can check the time left to submit on the counter at the top of this page.
