Setting Up Your Python Environment

Join us for a hands-on training where you will learn how to install common tools to work with Python, including the Anaconda distribution and the git version control software. You'll also learn how to create virtual environments to make collaboration easy, and how to leverage Jupyter Notebooks and the Spyder IDE for effective data science work. This session runs for three hours.

What will I learn?

You will learn how to:

  • Install Python using the Anaconda distribution.

  • Create and manage virtual environments to enable effective collaboration with other data scientists.

  • Launch and work with Jupyter Notebooks and the Spyder IDE for Python.

  • Install and set up Git for version control.

What should I prepare?

Users should have access to a web browser, and the ability to download software on their PC or laptop. All other materials will be provided during the session.

Who should attend?

This course is open to all DataCamp Premium learners, looking to get started working with R on their own PC or laptop. Note that part of the session involves installing software—you should have access to a PC or laptop where you have permission to do this.

We recommend that you take our Introduction to Python course as a prerequisite.
